The Position

The Director, Finance is responsible for strategic leadership of budget management functions in GBRMPA, as well as providing a management accounting service that supports the Authority with business insight and analysis. The position also oversights procurement services, and risk management.

The position provides strategic and tactical advice to the Chairperson, Audit Committee, the Authority’s broader leadership team and staff. Strong, positive leadership of the Finance Section’s operations is pivotal to the position.

The position provides the necessary foresight and management to ensure GBRMPA has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures to ensure financial integrity and operating efficiency.

Duties

  1. Strategic leadership of budget development, management and reporting, both internal to the Authority and working in partnership with other government agencies and delivery partners.
  2. Ensure the measurement and effectiveness of all processes internal and external related to the Section’s functions.
  3. Provide day-to-day leadership and management to the Finance section.
  4. Nurture effective working relationships with stakeholders and assist other areas of the Authority to effectively consult and engage stakeholders on relevant projects. This includes representing the Authority in discussions with government and non-government stakeholders as required.

Eligibility requirements & qualifications

Applicants must:

  1. be an Australian citizen to be eligible for engagement.
  2. be able to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance; failure to do so will result in termination of employment.
  3. have relevant tertiary-level qualifications in one or more of the following areas: Accounting, Business, Commerce and/or Financial management.
